CORIMSOL - The influence of CORIMSOL on LPG
Corrosion protection
In order to protect the power supply system of gas-fueled engines against corroding fuel, CORIMSOL contains special additives - corrosion inhibitors. They are organic nitrogen compounds of high molecular weight.
Nitrogen from the molecule of one of the inhibitors has a free pair of electrons, which it gives to metals (electron acceptors). This exchange of electrons leads to a strong chemisorption of the inhibitor molecule on the metal surface. A single molecule occupies a relatively large surface. The molecules chemisorbed on the surface form a tight monolayer (Figure 1), which protects the surface against the access of corrosive fuel components (mercaptans (R-S-H), alkyl sulphides (R-S-R)).
CORIMSOL also has another corrosion inhibitor that works by neutralizing corrosive aggressive fuel components.
The two inhibitors described above have a synergistic effect (the anticorrosive effect of the two inhibitors is much more effective than either of them used separately).

Lubrication
The spark-ignition engine fuel supply system should be properly lubricated in both gasoline and hydrocarbon feed.
Saturated hydrocarbons, in particular low-molecular hydrocarbons - such as LPG components - do not behave lubricating properties.
In order to protect the power system of the gas-fueled engine against friction and wear, CORIMSOL contains a lubricity additive.
In order to protect the power system of the gas-fueled engine against friction and wear, CORIMSOL contains a lubricity additive.
The lubricity additive present in the package creates a stable lubricating layer (Figure 2), protecting each other from moving metal parts against friction and wear; thanks to this, energy losses and longer life of these elements are reduced.
The operation of the lubricity additive results in a reduction of friction coefficient during the whole test (Figure 3), a two-fold reduction in the average coefficient of friction (from 0.591 to value 0.257) and a tenfold reduction in wear (89.3%).

Washing effect
In order to ensure proper engine power and complete fuel combustion, it is necessary to keep the intake system clean.
Saturated hydrocarbons, in particular low-molecular hydrocarbons - such as LPG components - do not have the ability to dissolve or remove sediments that accumulate on the engine's power system components.
The accumulated resin deposits at an elevated temperature form coke and carbon deposits (Figure 4). Due to the fact that gasoline engines can be alternately supplied with "liquid gas" and gasoline, LPG fuel should not differ in operating parameters from gasoline, which is always enriched with packages containing detergents.
Figure 4. Intake valve of a gasoline engine fed with (a) a base fuel and (b) a fuel with an effective cleaning additive
To compensate the lack of LPG cleaning properties, CORIMSOL contains a washing additive that systematically removes resin residues which are burnt in the engine together with the fuel. Thanks to this mechanism, the power supply system is clean, and the fuel dosing, creation of the fuel and air mixture and its combustion takes place in an optimal manner, in accordance with the engine's regulation. Full combustion means using the chemical energy of the fuel and reducing the emission of toxic exhaust components.
