AQUAGASOL

Technical characteristics of the product

AQUAGASOL

Additive (solubilizing) to LPG, increasing the solubility of water in fuel; prevents and permanently removes turbidity caused by the presence of water.

  • AQUAGASOL - Impact on LPG

Hydrocarbons have limited ability to dissolve water, which depends on the type of hydrocarbon structure and its molecular weight (Figure 1).

Figure 1. Water solubility in hydrocarbons at 20oC

AQUAGASOL acts by solubilizing water molecules dissolved or dispersed in the fuel. The active part of the preparation physically binds water to form an adduct that is perfectly soluble in hydrocarbons, even at very low temperatures. The strength of water binding by AQUAGASOL increases as the temperature of the fuel decreases, and thus the fuel is not turbid.

The dose of AQUAGASOL depends mainly on the water content in the fuel. For condensed hydrocarbon gases saturated with water at room temperature (clear or even slightly turbid fuel), the optimal dose is 1L of product per 4000kg of fuel. Because the amount of water dissolved in hydrocarbons decreases with decreasing temperature - a smaller dose of the additive can be added to the cold fuel.

The solubility of water in liquefied petroleum gases, as well as in LPG in the presence of methanol or AQUAGASOL, depending on temperature, is illustrated in Figure 2

Figure 2. Water solubility temperature in LPG

The product acts effectively both after adding it to the fuel and vice versa, when small amounts of water (technological) get to the anhydrous fuel containing addition of AQUAGASOL.

Turbidity measurements in NTU units (Nephelometric Turbidity Units) were made using a laboratory HACH 2100AN turbidimeter, where the turbidity point was taken as the water solubility threshold in hydrocarbons.

The instrument was calibrated before measurement using secondary Gelex® turbidity standards. The measurements were carried out in accordance with ISO 7027 (DIN 404) using a standard USEPA light filter and the results were recorded by means of a PC via the RS232 interface. In the set with the cryostat and cooler, the device measures the turbidity of the samples at the set temperature. Temperature measurement of the tested sample is performed electronically with an accuracy of 0.1 ° C, by means of an electronic Shinha thermometer with a Pt100 sensor.

The device allows the measurement of sample turbidity in the range of 0.01 to 10,000 NTU (observed with the unaided eye the turbidity is about 3 NTU).

The effect of methanol on the turbidity of the sample and the effectiveness of the AQUAGASOL additive were evaluated on the basis of turbidity measurements of n-hexane at a fixed, variable temperature.

Attention! AQUAGASOL can not be added to the fuel, in which water forms a separate layer; this may result in emulsifying a large amount of water in the fuel and creating a cloudy emulsion.

AQUAGASOL has cleaning effect in relation to intake valves or engine injection fittings. Supports the washing effect of typical commercial detergent additives for liquefied hydrocarbon gases. It makes it easier to spray the fuel, full evaporation and combustion in the engine.

By maintaining water in the fuel AQUAGASOL contributes to softer engine operation, lowering the maximum temperature in the combustion chamber and reducing the emission of toxic components of exhaust gas (NOx).
