DIESOL

Technical characteristics of the product

Diesol

"DIESOL" is tested: in the Laboratory of PKN (Polish Petroleum Consortium) S.A. in Płock

  • DIESOL influence on low temperature properties of diesel fuel

The product's operation consists in modifying the structure of paraffinic hydrocarbon crystals formed as a result of cooling of diesel fuel and inhibiting the sedimentation of paraffin crystals in diesel fuel thanks to the presence of a special dispersing additive. The dispersant works effectively only in depressed fuel. The interaction of both additives causes that the paraffin crystals formed during the cooling of diesel fuel reach very small sizes, in the order of microns. They do not undergo growth and sedimentation even during a dozen or so days and a stable, turbid suspension (Fig. 1 - vessel and photo 2) flows through the fuel filters without blocking them.

Fig.1. Depressed diesel fuel (vessel, photo 1) and diesel fuel containing a depressing-dispersing package (vessel, photo 2) showing the size of paraffin crystals and their sedimentation in fuels.

The high efficiency of DIESOL, which is a composition of the depressant and dispersant, causes a significant reduction in the temperature of plugging fuel filters. The DIESOL depressing and dispersing package eliminates the discrepancy between the CFPP and the winter temperature of fuel, resulting from the phenomenon of sedimentation of paraffin crystals. The depressant itself does not prevent the concentration of the paraffin precipitate (Fig.1, vessel 1) on the bottom of the cold fuel tank, from where the diesel fuel is sucked into the engine. The lower fuel layer then blocks the fuel filter at a temperature much higher than the CFPP parameter, which in this case is too optimistic for diesel fuel; it happens that fuel with a CFPP value of -20 ° C can be used up to -18 or even only up to -10 ° C.

The recommended ratio - 1L DIESOL per 1000L of fuel allows you to reduce the temperature of the actual use of diesel oil by 8 - 15oC.

To obtain the full effect of using DIESOL in order to improve the quality of diesel fuel requires thorough mixing of the fuel additive, eg during filling the tank and adding the preparation prophylactically - before turbidity of the fuel appears. The effectiveness of the DIESOL depressant - dispersing additive depends on the quality of the fuel. Gas oils with low temperature properties corresponding to standard C and D type fuels have a high "sensitivity" to the addition of DIESOL. To obtain the desired cold filter blocking temperature, use the appropriate dose of the additive is required. Example: Diesel fuel grade D of CFPP = -11 ° C after the addition of 0.1 vol% (1L per 1000L ON) of the product shows the lowering CFPP to -20oC. Doubling the dose of DIESOL (1L per 500L ON) results in CFPP - 24oC (species F).
